THE NEW JAZZ RECORD!

I'm excited to announce that I'll be doing a duo record for Sunnyside this fall with jazz bassist Steve Swallow! Doing a duo record is a bit scary because it's so exposing, but since I have a beautiful new piano at home it's made it easy to practice every day. "Twin Falls" will be released May 9, 2006. A CD release party/concert is scheduled for May 12th @ Joe's Pub.

THE SOLO PROJECT!

I'm currently developing a solo project which debuted at Rockwood Music Hall recently. Since I played with Chris Vatalaro from Antibalas on drums, I suppose it wasn't really solo, but it sure was fun! Dueling melodicas, a whistling solo on the pirate tune, and a few tunes I've written for The Biddies thrown in for good measure rounded out the night. I figured it's time I get out there playing and singing my pop tunes.

THE LASCIVIOUS BIDDIES

Deidre Rodman, piano/melodica/vocals
Lee Ann Westover, lead vocals
Amanda Monaco, guitar/vocals
Saskia Sunshine Lane, bass/vocals

4 cute gals playing original music in the "New Generation Cabaret" genre. What does that mean? It means 4-part harmonies, original tunes, unconventional arrangements of standards-to-be, Biddy Buddies, and a hell of a lot of fun.
The Biddies' two albums, Biddi-luxe! and Get Lucky, are available at the Biddies' website or at CDbaby.com. Coming soon: a DVD release of a live Fez show!

THE DEIDRE RODMAN QUINTET

Tony Malaby, tenor/soprano sax
Russ Johnson, trumpet
Bob Bowen, bass
Mark Ferber, drums

This jazz quintet was together for several years. Although we're not currently gigging, I'm hoping to create a podcast which features live tracks from past tours. We've done two records together. The first one, Sun is Us, also featured Loren Stillman on alto sax and Ari Hoenig on drums.
Our most recent album, Simple Stories, features Luciana Souza (and the Neighborhood School children's choir!) on vocals.

THE ALPHABET LOUNGE BIG BAND
FEATURING ROY NATHANSON

This is a 10-piece big band which performs beautiful original tunes. We also channel mayhem in the vein of the Jazz Passengers. We get together every now and then at Barbes for a sort of Addams Family Reunion. The group includes: Deidre Rodman-piano, Brad Jones-bass, George Schuller-drums, Ohad Talmor-tenor sax, Curtis Fowlkes-trombone, Roy Nathanson-soprano and alto saxes, Sam Bardfeld-violin, Jay Rodriguez-baritone sax, Russ Johnson-trumpet, Kate McGarry-vocals.

ROY NATHANSON'S
FIRE AT KEATON'S BAR AND GRILL

This project is the brainchild of Roy Nathanson and is a theme concert/album out on Six Degrees Records involving a fire at everybody's favorite bar and grill. The cast is large: Debbie Harry plays the bartender, Elvis Costello is the narrator, Nancy King is the bar wise woman, etc. We played several live versions of the show in New York and Europe. The project is really cool and I'm proud to have been a part of it.

DARIUS DEHAAS
SINGS THE MUSIC OF BILLY STRAYHORN

Darius is an amazing singer who is extremely committed to bringing the vocal music of Billy Strayhorn to the public. We debuted this show in 2000 at the Stanley Kaplan Penthouse at Lincoln Center to packed houses and excellent reviews, and followed with successful shows at Arci's Place and Joe's Pub. I was the musical director as well as the pianist for this project and was both honored and humbled by the experience. Our album, Daydream, is available on PS Classics. (It won the 2002 Bistro Award for Recording of the Year)
